Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Identify tasks and collect appropriate information
   • Determine requirement to conduct combat tasks from orders, and identify and apply appropriate standard procedures.
   • Determine and manage constraints imposed on tasks.
   • Identify and address training requirements.
   • Identify and manage resource requirements.
   • Report shortfalls/problems through the chain of command.
2. Plan and prepare for combat tasks
   • Identify and analyse information and intelligence in support of operations.
   • Identify and manage risk.
   • Conduct decision making process.
   • Identify and advise combat elements appropriate to the task.
   • Manage in-service resources allocated to the task.
   • Adjust plans to accord with resource availability.
   • Prepare and issue orders to combat organisations indicating their missions, tasks, resources, constraints and limitations.
   • Supervise and conduct battle procedure.
   • Liaise with stakeholders.
3. Conduct combat operations
   • Employ and/or coordinate appropriate supporting battlespace operating systems.
   • Modify plans to reflect changes in effort, resources and support.
   • Conduct operations as ordered, reallocating/adjusting resources to meet operational requirements.
   • Monitor operations to ensure efficiency of their conduct and achievement of the mission.
   • Action reported problems.
   • Provide reports.
4. Finalise combat operations
   • Conduct debriefing.
   • Conduct post activity analysis and make recommendations.
   • Compile and process reports and returns.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

allocating appropriate resources and personnel to the operations

developing plans and delivering orders, instructions, directions and training programs

commanding, directing, controlling, conducting, coordinating and monitoring subordinate organisations and activities

providing reports and documentation

coordinating multiple activities
